FDL have decades of experience in mint encompassing raw material sourcing, blending and flavour creation for pharmaceutical, oral care and confectionery applications, at our UK manufacturing site.
Mint is the third most popular flavour in the world after vanilla and citrus and is used in applications including confectionery, oral care, pharmaceutical and personal care, but there are at least 20 different types of mint plant species that are grown around the world.
Mint oils are extracted from the mint plant using steam distillation and this crude essential oil can then be purified using distillation to clean up the oil or isolate specific aroma molecules such as L-menthol.
Natural L-menthol can be produced to various standards including organic, GMP and industrial grades while we can also blend mint oils to meet specific profiles and flavours.
FDL have decades of experience in sourcing menthol and mint oils and manufacturing mint flavours and oil blends to supply to an international customer base.
